Locus
Locus is a collaboration between aduki independent press and Vignette Press (Emily and Lisa).
We are creating a space to discuss and think about quality independent publishing - and to promote our books and those by other small press. Locus is sometimes a stall at your local market, sometimes a friendly face at a small press fair, and will maybe one day be a place you can visit.
Locus believes in independent publishing, sustainability in the publishing and media industries, and above all, books and magazines that are interesting, diverse and distinctive.

Hi Lisa,
I came over here via my blog (agree with your criticisms of Fear of Flying by the way, although I thought the last line was perfect). In any case, I’m so, so glad you left a comment, as otherwise I might not have discovered this site!
As well as being an occasional blogger, I’m the co-founding editor of a small independent magazine that is yet to be launched.
We have content coming in, we have a designer ready to go, we have a few advertisers… but not enough. Could you point me in the direction of any resources for small start-ups? I’m finding a lot of advice about marketing and distribution, which has been helpful, but what I really need is a way of getting this off the ground, which means money. Are there any grants that you could recommend, or funding bodies that enable projects like this?
This site is wonderful, by the way… I’ll certainly be back soon.
